Frequently Asked Questions

When is the LRC open?

From 10:55am (Break time) to 4:15pm (After School) Monday to Friday. Games are only available for use at Lunchtimes and after school, due to time constraints, however all other resources can be accessed at all times.

How many Items can I borrow?

Students can borrow up to four resources at a time. This can be a combination of any materials apart from Games which must be played at school only.

How long can I keep the borrowed Items?

All resources are issued for three weeks. Students are always informed of the return date at the time of borrowing, but this can also be easily found on their ‘Reading Cloud’ Account. The LRC is open every day for students to pop in and check their return date too. If students do not know, or cannot remember their Reading Cloud logon details, then please see Mrs Little.

Books can also be renewed twice, giving Students up to nine weeks loan time in total.

What happens if I forget to bring my resource back and it becomes overdue?

Firstly, a ‘Don’t Forget’ reminder is handed to the Student via form tutors, three days before a resource is due back to try and help the pupil remember to return/ renew on time. So late returns shouldn’t be too much of an issue.

However, sometimes it is unavoidable and mistakes happen so, once an item becomes overdue, both a paper reminder for students and an email reminder to tutors will be sent every two days, for two weeks – In this period the book can still be renewed if the student so wishes.

After a book becomes overdue by two weeks, an ‘overdue charge’ of 20p per day is applied until the return of the item so it is really important to try and ; no more resources can be borrowed whilst a resource is in excess of fourteen days overdue. At this point, a letter of reminder will also be sent home to parents.

If an item is lost or damaged, please come and see Mrs Little to explain. If damaged, please do not try to fix the item yourselves as this can sometimes make it worse – Mrs Little can sometimes remedy the damage if it isn’t too bad. It is possible however, that the cost to replace the lost or severely damaged items will be asked for.

If you have any other questions please do not hesitate to contact Mrs. Little in the Learning Resource Centre via email on or via telephone 01733 246700.
