Attendance and How to Report Absence

Our vision and values aim to ensure we inspire our young people to achieve in school each and every day. We work alongside our parents and carers and other stakeholders to ensure that our students leave as confident, healthy, secure and independent individuals who have a love of learning and are ready to make a personal and positive contribution to society.

Excellent attendance is a significant factor in supporting our young people with maximising their potential in order to achieve success, regardless of their starting point.

We strive for all young people to have attendance above 96%. We praise and recognise all of our students that achieve this. Students achieving 100% attendance each term are entered into a prize draw at the end of each term.

How to report an absence

Please contact the school on 01733 246700 or email absence@hamptongardens.org.uk before 8.00am to report a student's absence from school.

Select the student absence line option and inform the school of:

  • Your child's name
  • Your child's form group
  • Reason for absence - Please ensure you give specific details regarding reasons for absence e.g. vomiting (instead of stating they are ‘sick’)
  • When you expect them to return to school

Please note that you must contact the school on each day of absence.

Any student with a sickness absence of more than 4 days within a short period must provide a doctor's note.

Leave of Absence Requests

All leave of absence requests need to be submitted using the form available here. These need to be handed in at the main reception at least four weeks in advance of absence. If you require a hard copy of the leave of absence form this can be collected from the main reception or student reception.

When requesting leave please ensure you provide any available evidence to support your request.

We ask that where possible all medical appointments are booked during out of school hours or non-term time.
