Business Studies

Business Studies at Hampton Gardens is a dynamic subject which prepares students for the challenges of the 21st Century by introducing them to the world of business. Although an academic subject, Business Studies is practical, applied and exciting.

The Business Studies Department aims to:

  • enable pupils to develop a range of desirable personal skills and qualities such as perseverance, initiative and independence.
  • enable pupils to be able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • build confidence in pupils, encourage success and develop each pupil’s potential to enable those who wish to find employment or proceed to further education may do so.
  • Prepare pupils for the dynamic contemporary business world with the attributes necessary to be successful employees and leaders

We follow both the GCSE Business Studies route and the BTEC TECH Award in Enterprise. Allowing us to deliver a varied curriculum to our students.

AQA GCSE Business Studies

This course will give you the opportunity to explore real business issues, and how businesses work.

You will consider the practical application of business concepts, and explore these through the context of events in the business and economic world.

This GCSE Business course has two exams that will be sat in the summer exam series (May - June).

The Pearson BTEC Level 1/Level 2 Tech Award in Enterprise

This course is for learners who wish to acquire knowledge and skills through vocational contexts by studying the knowledge, behaviours and skills related to researching, planning, pitching and reviewing an enterprise idea as part of their Key Stage 4 learning. The qualification enables learners to develop their technical skills, such as market research skills, planning, promotional and financial skills using realistic work scenarios, and personal skills through a practical and skills-based approach to learning and assessment.
