We believe that all children and young people have the right to a broad, balanced, motivating and relevant curriculum. Our aim is to inspire our learners, igniting their individual passions through our broad curriculum offer and enabling them to excel and enjoy their learning. We aim to assist them to build a knowledge and skills base which will equip them for future study at all educational phases, enabling them to become responsible, engaged and caring members of society and ultimately preparing them for the work place.
We understand the value of a thorough grounding in English and Mathematics and in developing high order literacy and numeracy skills. However, we also believe every learner has the right to a varied and enabling curriculum and should have access to a vibrant extra-curricular programme.
In addition to a wide range of taught subjects and topics, we promote British Values, healthy and safe lifestyles and develop learners’ spiritual, moral, social and cultural understanding.
We ensure that children and young people have an equal access to a wide range of subjects, courses and high quality learning opportunities. This will include a widening of an appropriate vocational offer at KS4.
Learning will not be limited to the five timetabled lessons per day. The Tutorial programme will have a clear daily focus designed to help build character and positive learning habits (e.g. active reading to support literacy, Work-Related Learning, ethics, etc). Form Tutors and Heads of Year will closely monitor each student's academic progress, as well as their personal growth and social development.
All students will have the opportunity to extend their studies by attending Enrichment classes which will be on offer every week. Students with a passion for music will be able to take part in extra-curricular tuition in vocal/instrumental teaching.
Sporting provision will also be a key feature of school life. Students will be offered opportunities to join teams which will compete against neighbouring schools across Peterborough in leagues and cups.
